The Role
I feel that the program is really well structured and valued inside the company. There are several events for interns and a lot of exposure to senior leaders. Also, I feel that the projects are well tailored for our capabilities and that the leaders know how to develop an intern.
Given it is a different industry and function, the learning curve may be considerably steep. However my colleagues try not only to teach me but to challenge me to give my point on view on the debated topics. Coming with a previous experience, I feel that I could contribute more, however the new function per se is already challenging.
My leader is very supportive and knowledgeable. Also, very respect among his/her peers. He/she has been patient with my learning curve, but also making sure I feel comfortable with my workload and specifics of my function. I believe that the fact that I have a leader who are used to have summer interns has been key to my positive experience.
I feel that I could be doing more at my internship. Even though the tasks are challenging, I believe that I could be working in more than one at the same time. I feel that part of it is because I am halfway through my internship so I am still not overloaded with work.
I have enough autonomy to discuss with anyone I feel reasonable and also to conduct my projects by myself. The amount of responsibility I've been given is limited only due to my knowledge of the industry/function, besides that I feel free to own my tasks and do them however I feel proper.
I feel that a lot of the skills I've developed are related to the industry and the function, that are both new to me. That is important given I feel that communication, presenting, and etc can be developed later, but only if I have a good understanding of my job.
The Company
Good atmosphere but teams work in silos.
Perfectly organized. All was setup before my arrival.
There was a lot of session with senior leaders, however I would have enjoyed some technical training about the different areas and tasks in my function.
Company Parties/Events
The program is well structured and recognized in the firm and it also presents good opportunities for a career. So I believe it is appealing to come back if possible.
The Culture
There were considerable events for interns, however they were all mixed together, while I think that it would make sense to separate them on Analysts and Associate levels, due to big differences in the career stage.
London is expensive by itself so you need to check where are you going to avoid surprises. Given that, it is possible to live and socialise with a relative normal budget.
The nightlife in London is amazing and diverse. You can find whatever you want everyday with different price ranges.
Yes, the work hours are reasonable in my function so I get the time to enjoy the summer after work.
