The Role
I enjoy it a lot as there is a lot of support and understanding from colleagues who were in the same shoes as me a few years ago. I also feel rewarded for the work I do as we get acknowledgement from people we work with. I also like that there were events arranged to give us exposure to seniors and people across the bank.
I felt that they were very inclusive of us and the team arranged drinks with us from time to time to help us socialise with the team. I felt that most made the conscious effort to get to know us. I also got acknowledgement after submitting work so it made me feel that my work is valued.
The analysts I was working with explained the deal we were working on and were happy to answer any follow-up questions. They also have an open door policy so I felt it was easy for me to approach people I am working with. I felt that there was a right balance between independent working and also guidance by supervisors.
I felt that there were periods of high and low in terms of workload but on the whole, I felt that I was quite busy.
I feel that I am given a relatively amount of responsibility. We are early on in our internship so I think they are mostly trying to ease us in for now. I expect we will be given more responsibility in the later weeks.
I feel that the transferable and technical skills will be very useful in studies. There is a lot of time management, relationships management involved.
The Company
I feel that it is very friendly and collaborative. The office has an open office plan so there is the opportunity to bump into people and have a friendly chat.
I feel that the internship is well structured and our staffer is very interested in our personal development so we get to see a range of activities within the team. I feel that this was to help us in our personal development.
We got training on the desk which was very useful. I also felt that the people I was working with were very happy to help us whenever we had questions. The training week at the start of the internship was very useful to me as it was led by experts in the bank and also external training company.
Subsidised Canteen
I think there is a lot of opportunity within the firm. The firm seems to be enthusiastic about developing you and there is a lot of emphasis on this. There are also a lot of interesting projects that the firm beings in and this is appealing to me.
The Culture
There are team drinks from time to time and also an IB-wide drinks so on the social front it is all we can ask for with the hours we work.
Somewhat affordable for London however still expensive but expected as this is London.
Not sure as I didn't experience the Nightlife.
There are drinks and also the volunteering day however this is about all there is to do outside the office
