The Role
Great experience, first time working in the Middle East. Joined a team of easy-going people but very results oriented. Was assigned a specific project and was given a lot of decision power on how to conduct it.
Joined a team of very open and welcoming people. They valued my project and helped me throughout the process providing me with resources and constant feedback on the direction of my project.
Almost daily catch-up with my direct supervisor and internship buddies. Line manager also very open to meet at least once per week, giving useful feedback and arranging interviews with other people whenever needed.
The start was a bit slow, as the project's scope wasn't exactly defined but once that was sorted out by the second week everything was fine. Besides the project, training also takes a good amount of time but it is totally worth it. It helps you understand the firm's culture and processes.
Assigned to a project that involves many areas of the firm and was given a lot of freedom on how to conduct it. Deliverables had to do with overall firm's strategy, so I felt that it was a very big thing to work on.
Definitely a great experience that will be valuable as I move forward in my studies/career. Not only it was the first time working abroad for me, but also the first time I belong to a corporation this size.
The Company
Excellent atmosphere! Office was recently renovated, people are easy-going and eager to help. They are genuinely interested in your work and your plans post-internship. As I relocated for the internship, people were even open to do activities outside of the office as a way to know the city better.
Overall, the onboarding was really good. Although, at first, it took us a week to define the scope of the project I felt that everyone was aware of me joining and could clearly explain what was expected from me.
The firm provides full access to learning platforms where you are required to fulfill mandatory courses such as the ones related to privacy/anti money-laundering/firm's culture and also they allow you to register at any other course available which are of your interest. Great tool to make the most out of it!

I think the firm would be a great employer post-studies. Being such a large organization, prospects for career progress and growth look very promising and possible. Also, because they work on so many location, mobility across the world is also a possibility. People are very talented, results-oriented but at the same time very open and approachable.
The Culture
I shared the floor with other two inters who became very good friend during the couple of months we spend in the UAE. Although we all tried to stand-out, it never felt that it was a direct competition or anything of that sort. We also arranged social activities outside of the workplace.
Overall, Dubai is a pretty expensive place to live. Short-term housing is very expensive but overall the costs were pretty much covered with the stipend the firm pays for internships.
Even though the weather was tough and it wasn't possible to go outside a lot, there's a lot to do in Dubai. Really active nightlife and activities for weekends! Getting bored wasn't an option, also because you make friends in the office that constantly organize activities after working hours.
Yes, people are very open to show you around the city and go out for dinners or coffee after working hours.
