The Role
My internship at Citi has been a wonderful journey where I had the opportunity to meet and work with very talented and interesting people, to have a full exposure to what my desk is working on on a daily basis, and to make friends and long-lasting professional relationships.
At Citi, I feel that if you work hard and well, you will be valued for your hard and quality work. I believe Citi is a place of meritocracy.
I think that support and management mainly depend on the team you are. As I worked in a very small and senior team, I had the chance to be very exposed to the day to day activities but my supervisor was quite busy to give guidance.
Once again, it depends on which team you will be working on and during which period you are interning at Citi. For me, it was quite a busy period as markets were good and issuers wanted to tap into the markets before the summer break.
As I was one of the two juniors of my team, I was given quite good responsibilities even after one or two weeks of internship!
The skills you will learn while working for Citi would be skills for life. Being either technical or fit and professional skills, you will never forget what you learnt here.
The Company
The atmosphere was pretty busy but people at Citi are really nice. As Citi is one of the best financial institutions in the world, employees are very committed. Still, they are very nice and open minded.
The HR team at Citi does an incredible work to organise networking events, conferences etc. The interns are all well guided during their placement.
Citi invests a lot in the success of their interns and employees. We are given a lot of trainings and review during our placement.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I think that Citi is hiring quite a lot people compared with peer banks. So I think that there are good prospects working within the organisation.
The Culture
I had a great relationship with my fellow interns. We had the opportunity to go out in weekends and even practice sport together. Having a great working relationship is essential to succeed at Citi.
It is quite easy to socialize within the bank, especially when you are working in a large floor as the ones you can find at Citi. Indeed, all the teams sit close to each other, which facilitates exchanges and sociability.
Being based in Canary Wharf, it is not the best place to have a nightlife. Still, after work are very appreciated and there are lots of bars for that!
It depends on your workflow and in which team you are. Citi has the chance to have a gym in its building.
