    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great organization of the whole placement process, which has started way before the internship start date. Company has arranged my application for UK visa, which went really smooth. I received all necessary information about the group placement, moving to London, agenda etc. The initial training was fantastic aimed to network with the intern class and bankers from my group.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues in my group of placement and overall in the company are very nice, friendly and ready to help. Most importantly they understand that I am making a career change and although I am an MBA student with previous work experience, I did not work in the finance industry. Both junior and senior bankers are taking time to explain every step of the job, at the same time giving considerable amount of responsibility, so I never felt that I am performing just certain tasks.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Every intern has been assigned junior and senior mentors, so we had a point of contact right from the beginning of internship to ask important questions about the job and career of investment banker. From day one I new what is expected from me and on which projects I will be working.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The team started to keeping me busy from day one, which is actually the essence of me coming from another country to do the internship and learn the actual job. On my third day of internship I started working directly with senior leadership, that increased my level of responsibility and gave me confidence, seeing that my team are believing in my capabilities.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been assigned to several projects, so in some I was helping with certain part of the job, while on others I was fully managing the process. I really appreciate the fact that only on the second week of internship, I was able to work on 5 different projects in various subsectors.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can see the development of my skills everyday. Everyday I am learning something new from my colleagues, be it general practice, financial modelling or excel best practices. Working with senior bankers, I learned a lot about the strategic way of thinking in providing advice to clients, keeping in mind the core values of the company.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is friendly, so you can lower the level of stress, which is usual in working on high level transactions. It is common during the day to ask someone for coffee and socialize with people in the group. This is very important, since obviously you spend more time in the office compared to other industries.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • When I just started the internship, I was shown my office place - the computer was running and all the necessary applications installed. Team explained me how to install all the necessary applications like work email app on phone, remote control etc. IT help system is operating 24 hours, so it is easy to solve any technical issue that may arise.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Every week we have several trainings organized by analysts and associated in our team that are really helpful to review technical aspects of the day to day job. The first week of the internship was fully devoted to the training with the participation of third organizations - which was a great ramp up period before the actual job.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely like to join the company for the fulltime. I was very happy to receive an offer for internship and currently I am enjoying working in a dream job. Obviously it is not an easy one, but with support of the team and limitless opportunities to grow within the company.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We are a definitely huge intern class in our group, and one of the scenes was when the summer analyst with whom I was working were ready to help me in a project for which I had to deliver the information soon. She stayed with me later that she must and I was able to deliver the presentation on time.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously London is not the cheapest place to live, but this is London. The food is great, a lot of places to go out and just walking in the city brings you a lot of joy. Probably you will never get bored in this city and always have some new place to visit.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The Nightlife is amazing, there are plenty of bars and clubs to go to, which wary considerably in price, so you can find a place that suits your budget. London transportation systems works well during the night too, so although cabs are comparably more expensive, you can literally go everywhere on a public transport.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We have protected Saturday policy, so literally you are forced out of the office at 10pm on Friday until 10 am on Sunday, unless you are working on a live transaction and was accredited by your senior manager. That is why you can make certain plans for the weekend too.
