The Role
I have had a very good year in the PSC Statistics team. I have work on a variety of projects and medicines.
Towards the end of my placement I feel like a valued member of the team and my manager is more confident to give me different projects.
I was given so much support from my manger. They encouraged me to do other activities to benefit my development outside of work.
There are busy and quiet periods but there is always work to be done.
When you gain more understanding and skills you get more responsibility.
You learn invaluable skills that you would not have learnt in an academic environment.
The Company
Generally there is a good atmosphere - cake helps.
My manager had a good idea f the level of knowledge I had so gave me work I could do.
I did some online training to learn how to code. The are other courses I attending throughout the year like soft skills and a simulation course.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I do enjoy working for GSK but I am intrigued to find out how it compares to other companies.
The Culture
At the start of the placement the IPs made an effort to get to know each other. It tailors of over the year but that's when you make your closest friends.
Living was a little expensive but there were many bars and pubs with 2 for 1 to make up for it.
Nightlife was best in the summer months. The are a number of bars and pubs in Ware.
Opportunities include STEM work, sports and social, charity work etc.
