The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Warner Bros, even more than I had expected to! WB is a great company to work for because it really values it's interns and you are treated like a permanent employee. The company culture is great and there are many perks to working for WB.
I definitely felt very much valued by my colleagues. I was given a lot of responsibility and felt like the tasks I completed individually were important as they impacted the work of my colleagues. In addition, my ideas and input in team projects & decisions was definitely appreciated by my colleagues.
I was given a lot of support and guidance both by my manager and by other senior colleagues. I had weekly meetings with my manager where we discussed my strengths and also what skills I could look to improve. My manager and supervisors showed a genuine interest in my professional development and gave me advice on many areas.
I was very busy during most of my placement year at Warner Bros. As with most jobs, certain periods of the year are busier than others. This just means you have to learn how to organise and manage your time effectively. Having said that, I was able to maintain a good work-life balance throughout the year.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement year - probably more than I was expecting. I enjoyed this level of responsibility however as it meant my work mattered and counted towards something. A placement year at Warner Bros isn't your stereotypical internship (doing the coffee run etc.) so be prepared to work hard!
I know that the skills I've developed over this year will help me in my final year of uni and more importantly, beyond uni. Over the course of the year I have learnt so much about working in a professional environment. The intern training programme at WB is fantastic as it gives the opportunity to improve many skills, both professional and personal!
The Company
The office as a whole has a great atmosphere where open communication is promoted between colleagues. There's often internal events taking place where employees can get involved and have a bit of fun. Everyone I've encountered this year at WB has been very friendly and approachable which is lovely especially when you are an intern just starting out at a big company like Warner Bros
Warner Bros' intern programme is very well established as it has been going for 20 years so it is unsurprising that the placements here are extremely well organised. Before you start your placement there is a chance for you to meet up with the other new interns. At the start of the placement there is a handover period where you learn the ropes so you aren't thrown into the deep end. There is also a dedicated intern training programme which is great.
The company really invests in the training and development of it's interns. The Learning & Development team run an amazing intern training programme where you can develop professional skills like project thinking skills and presentation skills. It also allows you to self-analyse by completing the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator questionnaire.

Although there is no graduate scheme at WB, many of those who completed a placement year at the company are hired back in the future.
The Culture
There is a great social scene at Warner Bros. There is a huge network of interns and apprentices so there's always people who are up for going to the pub, etc. I've made some great friends this year!
London is quite expensive compared to the rest of the UK however I found the cost of living and socialising ok since the internship is paid. The salary allowed me to live in a nice area and go out quite a lot throughout the year. A lot of bars & pubs have deals and student discounts so look out for these!
London nightlife is great as there's something for everyone. There's a lot of pubs and bars near the area I worked in so we often headed out for a drink after work.
Living in London, there's so many things to get involved in! Again, there's something for everyone so it depends what you're interested in. I joined a local football and netball team and also visited a lot of the historic landmarks and museums. Warner Bros offers the chance to volunteer and support local communities and of course there are many opportunities to socialise.
