The Role
I enjoyed working in a massive global company and got to work with a lot of really great inspiring people. The social side and benefits offered by Samsung were really good, for example we went to Harry Potter World for our Christmas party and I was a part of the Samsung football team. However after a few months I felt like I was still doing the same tasks I had started of doing and didn't always find the actual work engaging or interesting.
All my colleagues were kind and welcoming and we had good team spirit. Although we didn't do anything as a team outside of work.
I was given a lot of support at the beginning however I felt that my team did not have enough time for me to train me further so that I had the knowledge to do other tasks.
I did have many daily tasks to do so I was often busy and always had something that needed completing, however often these tasks were the same and repetitive so even though I was busy I wasn't engaged in my job all the time.
I was given ownership and responsibility for a number of tasks, I had control over them and was accountable. However I wouldn't have said these were exciting projects that I really wanted to be responsible for.
I believe I learnt many skills that will help me in my degree studies . Especially skills such as time management, Excel and presentations. I also now feel more confident in a professional workplace and feel I would have more confidence in an assessment in the future and in an office in general.
The Company
Overall it was relaxed
Very well organised, we had a programme in place and set training days offsite throughout the year
We had options to complete Microsoft office courses
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Unsure, as if I was to work for Samsung again in the future I would want to have a different role
The Culture
Yes, I lived with fellow placement students and we often met up with other placement students at the weekends.
Reasonably expensive as quite close to London
Poor, unless you went into London which was too expensive.
I was involved in the football team but that was it
