The Role
The team was great and extremely supportive. They made the internship exceptional and gave me every opportunity to learn from them. I also got to shadow many people and they all were lovely and helped me continue to network across the firm.
I felt really valued. They gave me from day 1 the opportunity to contribute to big client projects such as pitch books and different client maintenance tasks which really helped me understand what a typical day might be if I were in their shoes.
They were extremely busy so I did have some time to myself. However I used this time myself by scheduling in meetings with desks I thought were interesting and finding reading and projects which I found interesting. However you can always go to them for advice and they're very candid.
This changes day to day, but generally my desk kept me pretty busy, my hours were pretty much 6 am to 6 pm. Latest leaving was 9 pm so far and that was because of an exceptional amount of client work (pretty rare).
I was given a lot more responsibility than I thought I would get as an intern, however the team gave me lots of opportunities to contribute to internal docs and pitchbooks which were circulated to clients. It gave me a great taste of what it would be like full time.
The skills are not very directly applicable to my degree but I really would like to pursue a career in banking.
The Company
Very collegial. There is a hierarchy but even MDs treat you with a lot of respect and listen to your opinion.
Very well organised. Desks knew we were coming, wanted to have us, and gave us lots of opportunities.
The company probably could have done more in terms of training and intern networking events, but it was pretty good overall and definitely better than average.
Company Parties/Events
I really would like a job at this company - the work atmosphere is fantastic!
The Culture
Not the best social scene, but people are very nice and supportive.
Soooo expensive! But all of London is - especially Canary Wharf. Luckily the pay certainly helps.
No nightlife in Canary Wharf.
Not much on.
