The Role
The internship has been a fantastic experience overall. My colleagues often showed great appreciation for my efforts and it was encouraging to receive praise on several occasions. There is an extensive induction programme for new interns and graduates and a lot of guidance is provided mostly before taking on any work.
My colleagues often showed great appreciation for my efforts and it was encouraging to receive praise on several occasions. Being a part of lots of teams I never felt like the ‘Intern’, everyone gave people respect for what they knew no matter your level. More experienced colleagues were always happy to pass on that knowledge whenever an opportunity arose.
Being a part of lots of teams I never felt like the ‘Intern’, everyone gave people respect for what they knew no matter your level. More experienced colleagues were always happy to pass on that knowledge whenever an opportunity arose. My supervisor ensured that I was working on the projects that I wanted to be a part of and always supported me to improve my development.
At almost all times I had a sufficient amount of work to be getting on with across a number of projects. During periods of large workloads, my manager always made sure that I was coping. My supervisor ensured that I was working on the projects that I wanted to be a part of and always supported me to improve my development.
I was given massive amounts of responsibility within my role. You are treated as a member of staff rather than an intern. I was invited to and contributed to teams meetings and I was trusted with a lot of network. I have also been invited in morning call with analysts.
All the knowledge I gained during the Citi Summer internship has helped me to realise what I actually enjoy doing inside the financial services, which will allow me to join different societies in university that can help me to continue discovering where my passions are. This experience will be helpful for the rest of my life.
The Company
The atmosphere is positive and encouraging. Everyone works incredibly hard but at the same time everyone is very friendly and supportive. I feel confident and comfortable going up to members of my team for questions and help. The seniors are also very supportive and inspiring, creating a positive team spirit.
I think the overall internship set up is good. I particularly enjoyed and valued the first week of training because it allows me to build basic knowledge useful for my time at the desk, and allows me to meet fellow colleagues and build a network from the very early stage.
The company has invested an incredible amount in training especially in the first week where we had Fitch Learning coming and teaching everyone accounting and modelling. I think the level of the teaching was very good. It covers from basic accounting through to higher level modelling as well as using Excel.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. The combination of the training I received, the team I worked in and the type of work involved are all very appealing. I think it is important to work somewhere where people value you and is willing to train you. At the same time, it is important that the type of work are of one's interest.
The Culture
Absolutely. The interns often meet after work on Friday to socialise (although this will depend on everyone's availability based on work commitment). There are a few socialising / networking events arranged by the Recruitment team which have also helped providing opportunities to meet fellow students and colleagues. This is an important part of the internship.
