The Role
I absolutely loved my internship experience, mainly because the people I have met are very approachable and will give you the time to learn from them if they have it.
This definitely varies by cultures on desks, so it is hard to say specifically. For me I felt valued and part of the team which was great.
You need to be proactive and show that you are willing to learn, from there you are given adequate support for you to flourish.
On the flow desk I was very busy every day but in my second rotation the culture of the desk was much slower paced as it had longer term projects. You are still busy juggling many different parts of your work in both scenarios.
As an intern it is hard to have real responsibility on your desk unless you have the certain licenses to trade etc. But I was responsible for the reports so when you do have something to do make sure you own it.
This experience will definitely aid me going forward, it has been invaluable. The main aspect is time management and quick decision making whilst being accurate under pressure, while this sounds easy on the job is very hard but it also makes you perform under pressure the more you are working so the learning curve is great and transcends into a lot of aspects in your life.
The Company
Really friendly, open and collegiate. Everything is about team work and you have to be a team player which I love.
Very well organised. The intern programme is structured very well and give interns the chance to meet various different people across the bank which is otherwise hard to do by yourself at times.
We got given all the resources needed to support our jobs, so this made me feel very supported and had additional training sessions to expand our knowledge all the time.

Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, you are hired to the grad programme and not just the desks you intern on which is great.
The Culture
Very very good. You are surrounded by people who are all sociable and want to have a good work life balance.
It is high and that's just the reality of living and working in London unfortunately.
Very good.
Yes definitely, there were charity events for interns and also public speeches you could attend at your own discretion depending on your interests.
