    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed it. Good work-life balance. Everyone was really nice. Had a good variety of work to do. Was challenged but also very well supported. Got the chance to lead but also be part of the team. My work was adding value and had lots of different facets to it.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued. People were very nice and welcoming. Always willing to help. Always checking in on how I am. Gave me good positive and constructive feedback. Felt very much part of the team and was treated as an adult. Always included in conversations and was often asked my opinion.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Would have weekly meetings with my line manager going through a reflection guide, chatting over what I did well, where I can improve and where I'd like to develop. Manager was very nice and welcoming, always willing to answer any questions I had. Was always happy to guide me and recommend a course of action.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Pretty busy most days with a variety of tasks but occasionally I could have had more to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A good amount of responsibility. I was given important roles and meaningful work in all teams I was in. Furthermore, I got to lead a team and manage a project. Also got to do a project and present on it so I felt that was quite a lot of responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Helped me to be a critical thinker and examine things. Also helped improve my network and communication skills. Furthermore, felt I am better at dealing with ambiguity and more ready to embrace a changing environment. Also had the chance to try and be more creative and innovative to achieve a goal.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Pretty positive. Everyone was working really hard but no one ever lost their temper and no one seemed to work silly hours. So on the whole a positive atmosphere to be in. I did not feel nervous on any day that I walked into work. Felt relaxed and able to work.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. I had most things I needed set up for me on the first day so I could start work straight away. The only thing that was not set up that was frustrating was my parking and it took me a few weeks to get access to it.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given chances to go to workshops. I was given several opportunities to shadow people in different departments which was great at helping me develop my knowledge of the business. Anywhere I wanted to grow in someone would help seek out and provide an opportunity for me in that area.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. The grad scheme is very highly regarded. All the grads enjoy it, it's well paid and good fun. You get to rotate around a lot of the business and get the chance to work in lots of different departments and learn lots of new skills. Very encouraging future prospects.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of social events on offer for the interns. Interns often had lunch together and had a Whatsapp group. So lots of opportunities to socialise and meet other interns. Also did a charity challenge which was a great chance to meet and socialise with other interns all across the bank.
