The Role
It was very insightful and having the opportunity to network and attend conferences was amazing. Thorough team support and well organized scheme which has enhanced my learning and understanding of the bank and the true culture Barclays stands for.
They trust me with important tasks and let me help on recent important projects. I have aided in the creation of slides and decks which are/were used for client meetings and helped in events organized by the company and network amongst industry professionals.
Detailed feedback and constructive criticisms made me develop during my time at Barclays and I know I could reach out and ask for help / support / advice whenever I needed .
Some days are busier than others and if my whole team were absent I sometimes struggled to know if I was on the right path or get extra work as it could not be explained well
I was in charge of important client slide creations before meetings and creating agenda and research around firms and trades dedicated to ESG. I was in charge of managing the diary and responsible for portraying the team in a positive light when attending events.
I study a subject around the team I have worked in so this will help build up my knowledge and experience. Also, the soft skills and constructive feedback received throughout my time will aid me to utilize and thrive in my next internship and work space in the future.
The Company
The floor is generally quite quiet and people do their own work but the general hum of chatter does circulate the floor
HR have done an amazing job and all sessions organized and meetings were run very smoothly and I felt I could rely on the team and know nothing would go wrong in terms of organization
Gave me the chance to experience the culture and office life and much as possible and enabled me to sign up to events and experiences to get the most out of the internship and development
I would love to work here but I am unsure what the next steps after my internship are. Hopefully I will be able to secure a full summer internship and hopefully work here one day after graduation.
The Culture
My fellow interns and I organized many evening meals after work but in terms of the scheme, only one specific session was held for us interns (which was incredibly fun)
Cost was expensive but there are many areas to go to for meals and socializing which is a good bonus and as it is a big area there is lots to explore inside this part, and nearby city.
I am not sure about this question as I did not experience any nightlife
Some speaker events were held however nothing external to my knowledge
