The Role
The team at Barclays made sure that us interns had a warm friendly introduction, as well as events and fundraising opportunities for all of us to partake in.
I did not feel out of place at all, from the first day there was a warm atmosphere. If I have any questions, I am never afraid to ask them and almost always had assistance of any tasks I found difficult.
My line manager made sure to have a weekly catch-up with me to evaluate what we had done for the week and how that applies to the business. I also had a mentor and a buddy assigned to me before I even arrived. To add to that, I was never afraid to get the phone book out and call someone from a specific field in the bank to ask if I could shadow them (haven't been turned down yet).
I believe this is a very individual question, from my personal experiance there can be slow days due to the fact that the bank has so many security measures to ensure customer safety. You can be assigned a task on Monday and not be able to start by Wednesday - I use this time to teach myself some the technology that the bank uses.
I have been given many tasks, but many were just to teach me how to use the technology that the analysts use. I have had no major responsibility, which is understandable as I am only here for 9 weeks.
I have developed tremendously, I believe that I know a lot more about technology than I previously had and am looking forward to potentially working here for a graduate position to ensure I develop with trained professionals.
The Company
There's a warm feeling and not a day has passed where I have dreaded coming into work.
I can evidently tell that Graduate Resources has put a lot of effort into making sure that the interns are having a good experience. There have been many talks and constant catch-ups to make sure we are satisfied.
The firm allowed us to look into exactly what we wanted to go into before coming to the internship - be in Cyber-Security, Data Science, etc. There is a lot of potential to gain qualifications without having to do any more university related work (which is a bonus for me).

Barclays is a huge organisation, and as such so are there career prospects - there are a huge range of areas that need to be covered and the graduate scheme gives many the opportunist to spoil ourselves with them.
The Culture
Overall I found the interns to be exceptionally friendly, we had a designated day in which we all went to the pub after work to discuss our day.
Barclays provided a relocation bursary, so as a whole my accommodation was all payed. Knutsford is quite a small town, but links to Manchester are accessible so if a day out is needed, it is on the doorstep.
Manchester is always a good night out, I would argue the best in the country. Access to London is quite cheap - Barclays provide a free shuttle bus to Crewe which has the cheapest train tickets to London I've ever come across (£6 normally), I can be back in time to enjoy Camden Town before the clubs even open.
Barclays is very clear that it promotes its staff to be outgoing friendly with constant socializing events outside of working hours.
