About You
I really enjoyed working at the office, meeting the people and getting advice on my career progression. I found myself struggling to find work to do at times but for the most part I enjoyed myself.
Lots of people in my department made the effort to speak to me and give me advice on qualifying at the firm, I was given real work to do and I felt encouraged that I was making a useful contribution to the firm.
I had a supervisor who assigned me tasks, as well as sitting in an office with five others who offered me help when needed. Everyone was extremely keen to answer any queries I had.
To a great extent, becoming more competent researching on plc in particular. In addition to studying an area of law I would not otherwise have the ability to look at in my degree until I reach the LPC.
The Company
The entire placement was extremely well-organised, with a booklet given to us at the start of the week outlining every timing for the week so there was never a confusion on where to be.
Everyone made the effort to introduce themselves to me and all appeared genuinely happy to be at the workplace. The other placement students were equally friendly and I enjoyed spending time in the welfare room at lunchtimes with them.
They paid for my two weeks which was really helpful to cover my travel and accommodation expenses. I also got to take part in a training day and they provided great lunches throughout the placement!
Getting to work in the same department for the entire two weeks meant you got to know the structure of how the work is delegated and gain a real insight into the team you would be working alongside as a full time employee.
I gained a significant insight into the culture through remaining with the same team for the duration of my placement.
Extremely, the enjoyment I gained confirmed to me my genuine interest in that career path.
Everything Else
I was paid well and this covered most of my expenses.
There was a social organised with the other placement students and current trainees, as well as invitations out to lunch and drinks after work.
a social event with the trainees and opportunities to talk to members of the firm at all levels throughout the placement, with a lunch at the end with one of the partners.
Yes, the various sporting clubs and CSR activities, as well as sports days with other companies and networking events with clients.
Yes, I felt it was a well organised and insightful placement that really gave you an idea of working in that specific firm.
