The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement, I have been actively involved in completing tasks also, I have had the opportunity to use my own initiative while doing/completing tasks. I have been involved in communication with management team, shop floor and also external contractors. Definitely, this placement has been enjoyable throughout this year.
I have been allocated to quality office even though I was working for Health and safety however, my colleagues in quality took me in, they considered me as part of their team, they involved me in their team building activities and so on. So definitely I have been taken in and been part of their team as well.
From the beginning we have created a learning schedule with my manager where we agreed what I want to learn and what my manager wants be to be involved in. I have been always explained everything beforehand and also, when I was confident with the knowledge I have always had support and guidance from my manager.
As during my placement we have been introducing new launched it kept me well busy at all times. I have been involved in helping other departments as well during difficult times.
I think the amount of the responsibility was just right. Some of the tasks I have been given I had full ownership but I also some of the tasks I have been co-operating with other colleagues in the plant. Sometimes the responsibility was too much especially from the beginning however, whenever I was struggling my manager was there and always helped me and also gave me a coaching about how to deal with those situations.
All the skills I have learnt throughout this placement I will use for the rest of my life. I have experienced what it is like to go through launched, where were the mistakes made, what to avoid in future launched, how to manage it from the beginning. I have been involved quite a lot in digitalization process
The Company
There was always fun in our office. every day we talked through different topics, we had lots of discussions and lots of fun. Overall, my office was very close as a family and it made the working environment much easier to work in.
Very well from the induction all the way through the placement. We have had regular reviews with my manager on my progress. also, we have been setting more and more targets for me to achieve and develop myself. Also, placement wrap up has been very well organised.
Faurecia learning lab is an amazing tool for professional development it covers lots of different topics with certifications. Also, I have participated in workshops and training such as Microsoft office training, packaging compliance workshop or Tennaxia conference call. All these training and workshops has given me firm base of knowledge and development.
Company Parties/Events
We have all been explained what comes after our placement and Faurecia is trying to bring back their placement students on board. There is an opportunity of VIE international scheme or graduate job in the UK. After completing any if these schemes full time position will be offered to the candidate.
The Culture
All of us students in our plant became good friends. Whenever we see each other we start chatting and spend some times discussing lots of topics. Also, we go for a lunches or dinners together. All in all, we have became quite a strong team of students as we keep working together in different topics and supporting each other.
I was commuting on daily base from Coventry to Banbury by train so traveling costs were high. Also, Banbury where I was based is very small town with not much opportunities for a good social life therefore I decided to stay in Coventry.
Banbury is small town with not many places available for nightlife however, Oxford is about 20 minutes away which is bigger city with more opportunities.
Mostly communication with external companies almost on a daily base. also, part of our charity challenge we used to communicate and co-operate with outside companies.
