About You
I throughly enjoyed my time at Pinsent Masons, I sat in the Corporate department for my 2 weeks. This allowed me to get a full insight into real pratical legal work, which is such a change from university modules. I helped draft ancillaries for a closing deal, as well as advise clients regarding their limitations- really enjoyable!
Extremely valued. Pinsent Masons is a people's business, everyone is so warm, friendly and welcoming. No one is too busy for you, and everyone takes time out of their day to ensure you are okay, from partner level to trainee. This made me feel completely at home, fitting in well with the firm
Guidance from Grad Rec has been amazing throughout the whole process regarding information and processes. I was assigned a buddy trainee who delegated me work, but made a conscious effort to review my progress and ensure I was having an enjoyable experience. I also had a supervisor at Associate level who provided constant support.
Practical legal experience is necessary in order to succeed in the industry. My newly developed skills such as confidence and detail consciousness will be extremely helpful in my degree, as I embark on my final year studies these will assist in the writing of my dissitation, as well as networking.
The Company
Very well structured, we recieved information on the Induction day for the structure of the first week which I personally enjoyed as I could see exactly what was going to happen. In terms of work, my buddy ensured I was constantly provided with new content to tackle but had a flexible approach to ensure I wasnt overworked
Amazing. The firm is open plan which means you may be sat next to your buddy trainee one day and a Partner in your department the next. Everyone is so friendly and the synergy across departments as well as all hierarchal levels is lovely to see. The firms values really are embedded in their employees
I think they did make an investment in offering me a place on the Vacation Scheme to begin with, as this provided me with first hand legal expereince in an international successful law firm. Training in regard to work was constant, I developed new skills and experience throughout everything I undertook.
This was a great insight into what a full time role would be like a Pinsent Masons, I sat alongside my department as though I was a new trainee. The work I conducted was of a high level, allowing me to challenge myself, as well as networking events in which I could interact with clients
Working at Pinsent Masons gave me a clear indication of what the culture was like. After attending other open days at similar firms, I could honestly say that Pinsents is everything it sells itself to be- open, welcoming, friendly etc. The culture is one of the main reasons why I chose to apply here.
I have always wanted to practice Law from a young age, but working here has reaffirmed my desire to work in the commercial sector as a Solicitor. It also provided some insight into which departments I may be interested in- specifically could see myself working in the Corporate sector with the fast paced, high intensity work
Everything Else
I was paid a wage for the last 2 weeks of work, which is extremely rewarding. It made me feel as though the work I have been doing is of use and is valued. Taking time out of part time work to could have been a struggle if this was voluntary
Yes, there were many opportunities, employees were more than willing to have a chat with you to discuss their personal experinces at Pinsents. A Vacation Scheme social was also organised, alongside an invitation to the firms Summer Party and Property team networking drinks in which reputable, big name clients attended.
So enjoyable. It pushed me to become more confident to talk to people of a high level in the firm, as well as clients. Everyone was so friendly it made these experiences much easier. The Vacation Scheme social was particularly fun with all of the current trainees at Roxy ballroom
Yes, they have many opportunities to attend social events-each Friday, there is drinks. As well as this there are many groups, e.g. women empowerment etc which are also encoruaged to participate in. They have a pulse room in which you can take time out of your day to exercise with suitable shower facilties to use afterwards
100%. I have had the best experience over the last 2 weeks and have learn so much about myself as well as the firm. This experience has allowed me to reaffirm my desire to work at Pinsent Masons, and would sell this opportunity to any friend that was even considering it
