The Role
I really enjoyed my internship because of the variety of areas of the I managed to see. The people were very friendly and helpful with teaching me more about the industry and introducing me to the technicalities of the role. The opportunities have been endless and I am glad I pushed myself to apply.
My colleagues have been very helpful in helping me settle in and also providing me with work that adds value. I felt like a part of the team and whenever I brought my ideas to meetings they were encouraged and respected. This made me feel happy and more comfortable at the desk.
The hierarchy of my team have been so supportive and provided me with advice which spanned from career specific suggestions to more personal points in which I was able to develop my confidence in myself and begin to plan my future. Everyone from my line manager and directors to graduates have been so nice.
The days were usually quite free in the first few weeks to allow us to settle in and explore the bank and get adjusted to the life as an intern. Then following the allocation of projects and specific tasks the days became busier however there was always free time to learn more about other areas.
The responsibilities and expectations were quite small at the beginning due to the fact you are an intern however everyone, even those not directly in my team, was eager to help me develop and push me to take on more roles and responsibilities which was great for my personal and professional development.
The hard skills I have developed will definitely support my applications and my career due to the value of those specific skills. There was also the opportunity to complete e-modules to gain some insight into areas of interest. The soft skills such as building and maintaining rapport will definitely help back at university and later in my career.
The Company
The people in my team were very supportive and open which reflected well in the environment. Everyone was willing to talk and discuss topics from movies to more serious work. The atmosphere is a nurturing safe space to openly share opinions and encourages one to get involved with work and beyond.
The first week was good in getting us settled in and introducing the business and its place in the industry. This eased all of the interns nerves. The support after our introduction to our teams was also immense and there were still intern events run to get us involved in our roles. The projects given in our team have also been well organised to keep us involved and on task.
I feel that the first week of events showed that the firm wanted me to think outside the box and expand my thinking to a larger scale which supported my creativity. The team members also encouraged me to share opinions and present ideas to senior staff which also developed my confidence.

Working from home
There is a strong channel for development and also many opportunities for internal mobility which shows that this organisation cares when it comes to the happiness of the staff. This is highly appealing as all the roles are dynamic and you can always switch to pursue one which suits your skill set at any particular time in your career.
The Culture
The team was involved with many different parts of the out of work schemes which was supposed to be a channel for staff to get involved with extracurricular activities. The forum held a sports day and there were other events planned to discuss topical issues and celebrate events which was nice and supported a family like environment
