The Role
From the very first day I felt welcomed. I was given responsibility within my first week and I was always supported by my manager, buddy, my team and people from different departments. I got to meet so many people from different organisations through attending different events that expose you to new knowledge.
I felt very valued. They made me feel like I was home from day 1. On my second day people were helping me find somewhere to live that was closer to the office as I was new to croydon. There are so many social events which ensures that everyone knows each other and there's always someone to have your lunch break with!
I'm always given support. My manager always ensured that I always benefit from what i'm doing by setting up meetings where I can give feedback. People genuinely care about you and want you to excel so if they see an opportunity for me to learn something new, they will always put me down for it. I always get support when i ask for it or when my manager senses that I might need support.
It was a perfect balance. I always have something to do. Everything is so organised and I never felt lost. Also, people will offer help if they feel like you have got so much to do. Everyday is different so you get the oppoortunity to be busy with different tasks everyday that you learn a great deal from.
I was given responsibility from day 1. Which shows how much your team believes in you. My responsibilities increased by the day which was amazing because you can see personal development through increased responsibility. By my 3rd week another placement student and I were being sent out to events to represent mott macdonald and network with different organisations.
The skills I've developed from Mott Macdonald are skills that you can't learn from books. I developed my communication skills and being able to negotiate deals. My presenting skills have developed so much that I feel 100% confident to present at anytime. My IT skills developed a great deal as i was using different portals. The most important development of all for me was personal development. I was getting more confident by the day and also more disciplined. Everyday i wake up with the mindset that I want to give 100% to everything I do. All the skills learn will help me alot in my degree as I study international business so IT, communication, confidence and discpline is really important in my degree and beyong
The Company
Everyone is so lovely, you can make friends very easily. Also everyone knows the appropriate time to have fun and when to work. I honestly love the atmosphere so much, I wish i didn't have to go back to uni for my final year :(
The placement was so organised. I've never felt lost or felt like i have nothing to do. All my tasks were organised with a deadline in order for me to learn new things
Mott macdonald has done everything they could possibly do in order for me to develop more and more everyday. The experience and training i got in Mott Macdonald is like not other! People always want you to learn and they will bring you out of your comfort zone so you can achieve things that you never thought you could.

The Culture
Yes, Mott Macdonald does welcome lunches when a new person joins. So you get to meet different people from different teams. Also there are events in which placement studentns meet the apprentices. Also there's an annual sports day were all Mott Macdonald Employees from around the UK meet up for an eventful day!
As a student, everything is expensive. However, I was being paid very well as a placement student so I haven't struggled with money. Also, there are so many young people around. I didn't struggle making friends and socialising
Brillilant! You're close to everything. If you fancy a night out in central london or in croydon I can gurantee you that you'll have the time of your life.
There are many societies that you can join such as the football club, volleyball club and so on. You can go out and do so many different activities with your colleagues and maybe even invite your friends from university. Also, you can do so many other different activities. This year I chose to climb the O2 with my colleagues
