The Role
Enjoyed client meetings the most, great opportunities to meet different people in different sectors and to learn more about their journey. However would like some more technical tasks like organizing credit paper or account plan.
Everyone is really friendly in the team and in other business areas. When I write emails in order to arrange some coffee chats with my colleagues, everyone replied to me quickly and explained clearly their experiences in the area. There are also some team drinks or team dinner, where the atmosphere was inclusive.
My line manager is a person who can be the role model in mt career as she cares a lot about the citizenship and diversity in the company while doing great relationship management with clients. However she is really busy hence is not usually staying in the office. It is quite hard to find her for some questions or opportunties.
During the time of client meetings I am quite busy researching the client information and writing reports afterwards, while in other time the workload is much lighter and makes me think maybe I should find ask for more meetings. The day to day task is mainly based on researches hence I have to determine my own workload .
The business area requires a certain amount of technical knowledge hence as an intern for only 2 months it is quite hard to take responsibility with this short time. The tasks are mainly to support the operations of other colleagues instead.
The online training courses are quite helpful in the development of a general recognition of the company and the risks we are facing in the economy. The skills of networking, or interacting with other people have also been improved by there client meeting. While the technical skills, sue to the nature of this area, are not improved to much.
The Company
Everyone is really friendly had also hard-working. We used hot-desking in the office hence we have to arrive in earlier each day to find a seat, which is kind of interesting as we can interact with different people sitting nearby everyday.
This internship is really organized as the schedule of events are placed from the beginning. The training sessions by HR are also really helpful in understanding the operations of different sectors in the company. However it is still a bit unclear how the interns were selected into different teams and all teams are significantly different from others, hence it is a bit hard to balance this.
Each intern has a line manager who is a senior personal responsible for the details objectives setting and checking, together with feedback. There are also business area learning sessions where colleagues from other teams come to do presentations to the interns. These are quite useful.
Subsidised/Company Gym
There are lots of chances for the Graduate program. Rotation scheme in 3 different sectors seem to be appealing, and there would be lot of opportunities to meet people in different teams to talk about their roles which increased my interests in experiencing these.
The Culture
There are events organized for interns and colleagues by the Human Resources recruitment team, hence it is easy to approach other fellow students in the same internship program. Everyone is really friendly and helpful.
Cost of living quite high due to working in the city center
Haven't been staying till night. Hence have not experienced the atmosphere there.
Quite a lot of opportunities for outside talks and diversity events that are sent by the intranet newsletters. It is also easy to find colleagues to go to the events together as well.
