The Role
The work wasn't particularly enjoyable but that is more down to discovering that I didn't find the area I was working in as interesting as I thought it would be. For someone who was interested in my area I'm sure they would enjoy it.
Colleagues were very supportive and always valued every contribution I made as though I was a permanent member of the team.
Support was good but having particularly busy seniors meant that getting the required attention for projects was challenging. We had a lot of reshuffling and redundancy in our area which also didn't help.
Some days would be quite busy and some I would have to actively find things to do.
I had responsibility for a few major projects along the year.
A lot of time management and project management skills were developed, as well as taking responsibility and working in teams
The Company
My colleagues were very friendly and easy to talk to, but only one other person my age.
My placement project wasn't set up very well which resulted in a lot of issues and setbacks along the way. We didn't find out which site we were based at until around 2 months before we started, which was fine for me as I had housing sorted already but I heard of people who were unable to find suitable housing at such short notice.
I had a few good training workshops and skills development sessions throughout the year.
Flexi Time
Working from home
The pay is very good for the Engineering sector but I personally wouldn't go back as I would like to live in a different location to where the company is based.
The Culture
There were a few socials across the year for undergrads but only around once every 2 months
Leamington is an affordable area with rents of around £400 a month. As a Warwick student I had already been living here prior to my placement so knew of good cheap places to go.
No too bad, but as a Warwick student I already knew of the places to go.
There were a few socials planned but not that many
