The Role
I really enjoyed working at GSK and being a part of the drug discovery process.
I felt that the work I was doing was important and that I was contributing to achieve the goals of my department.
My supervisor continuously supported and guided me throughout my time here; from showing me how to work in the lab and how to perform different assays to explaining the underlying science and answering any questions that I had. In addition everyone in the department was very approachable and always happy to help and give advice.
After the first couple of months I was able to manage my time between the office and the lab independently. I never felt like I didn't have something to do and I found the work interesting throughout the placement.
I was expected to perform a set of experiments each week and report back to my supervisor as well as present my findings when necessary. I was trusted to deliver quality results and to manage my time in a way that suited me.
The skills that I developed will help me throughout my career as a scientist
