  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working at GSK and being a part of the drug discovery process.

  • I felt that the work I was doing was important and that I was contributing to achieve the goals of my department.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor continuously supported and guided me throughout my time here; from showing me how to work in the lab and how to perform different assays to explaining the underlying science and answering any questions that I had. In addition everyone in the department was very approachable and always happy to help and give advice.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • After the first couple of months I was able to manage my time between the office and the lab independently. I never felt like I didn't have something to do and I found the work interesting throughout the placement.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was expected to perform a set of experiments each week and report back to my supervisor as well as present my findings when necessary. I was trusted to deliver quality results and to manage my time in a way that suited me.

  • The skills that I developed will help me throughout my career as a scientist
