    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My year at SAP has been amazing. The opportunities that I have been given along with the trust from my managers and peers has been beyond what I was expecting. Working at SAP has given me a great opportunity to explore different areas of the business that I may have been interested in or taught me what job areas I don't want to participate in.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have been granted a lot of trust whilst on my placement especially around my interaction with customers. I feel like a valued member of the team and did not feel like an intern. I was able to assist with Customer meetings, content creation along with being able to demo to a customer which was a true honour.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The managers, colleagues and other employees around the business gave me great support. I felt like I could trust my colleagues and be given opportunities like no other. They helped me to learn skills and gave me guidance on the best practice of how to deal with customers and presentation skills to be able to improve skills within myself that I will carry with me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The busyness would fluctuate on a daily basis. There is never a set routine here at SAP. One day you would be really busy with multiple jobs that would need to be done as soon as possible and not stop all day. Other days would be dead quiet where you would need to find jobs to keep you busy, however there are many opportunities to get involved in to make sure that you can keep busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been granted a lot of trust whilst on my placement especially around my interaction with customers. I feel like a valued member of the team and did not feel like an intern. I was able to assist with Customer meetings, content creation along with being able to demo to a customer which was a true honour. Being able to assist in customer meetings was a huge responsibility which i didn't expect. Right from the planning of the customer visit, all the way to presenting in the meeting was a huge learning curve.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I have gained many skills that will assist me in my studies which has lead me to want to be back at university to finish my degree. I have learnt much about Time Management and how to priorities task of importance. I feel this will be important for me to be able to work on the most important piece of work while back at university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office varied on a day to day basis. At the start of the week it will be very busy with employees in the office that you may fight for a desk. Towards the end of the week it would quietened down and be a more relaxed environment. This includes through the quarter.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The work placement was very well organised at SAP. There is a steering committee called Futures which help to guide the interns and future talent programme. These are you rock throughout your placement and are here to help you with any problems you may have or if you have any ideas for the future.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There has been many opportunities for you to get involved in multiple training this year to develop your personal skills. These can include social selling, presentation skills, story telling and much more. You are able to develop these skills on the job which can help you on the job and in your personal life too.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think these varies from role to role. The job role that I have been part of this year has great future opportunities with the academy along with the sales roles. However there is a concern for many in other roles who feel that there is not future job role opportunities therefore not inclined to return to the company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are multiple social opportunities among the interns. This includes socials organised by interns most weeks at various location across town. There are also a few opportunities internally for socials including Christmas Party and Intern Farewell at the end of the year. The social scene is dependent on who in your intern year wishes to organise them.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Again, this varied among person to person. It was common in our year that many people actually lived at home, therefore they were able to keep the cost down. It varies on person. The biggest benefit is free lunch, so you can have your main meal at SAP and not have to pay for food.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in this area is very dangerous. Many people would travel towards the city for nightlife as many would live nearer to the centre. It varies on who organises the social and where it was but it would never be near the office due to safety reasons for sure.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many different activities that you can get involved with during your time here. This can vary from Corporate Social Responsibility events to get involved in along with more social activities. This can include galas, partner events, customer events. You have to go out there to find these opportunities.
