The Role
It was a valuable experience. Citi values its interns and they have a lot of resources, events and programmes to make sure you get to learn as much as possible, network a lot and you have fun. I highly reccomend the internship to anyone that wants a career in finance/markets.
The best thing about Citi is how global the firm is. You get to meet people from very diverse backgrounds. Also, everyone is so nice and they are actively trying to help you fit in. Also, because of their recruiting process, the interns you will meet will become good friends.
Even though my manager is very busy, he still made time to give me task and even to help me with the trading game. Still, these are people working on Trading desks so you can still expect them to say they don't have time from time to time. Just keep bugging them.
I was quite busy, but this is because in addition to your work desk, you need to participate in the Trading game I.e. have a presentation with your team every Thursday and do your best to trade everyday. But I enjoyed the work, so I had no problem with the workload.
I was interning on a Trading desk, so not much responsibility to be given to me. But they gave me the option to automate some of their tools and to help them improve the way in which they analyse their data. So, I felt useful throughout the 10 weeks at Citi.
I got regular feedback on my presentation skills from the trading game - very useful for the future. I got feedback on the way I manage my time, how I solve problems. So, all valuable. Also, no uni will teach you how to behave and succeed in a work environment. So, this was a valuable experience.
The Company
The team was amazing. They were very busy but they still found time to answer my questions. They made great efforts to include me in the team even though I was there for only 10 weeks. People are very friendly and they are the biggest asset at Citi. (That and global reach)
Very organized. I had regular events (talks given by senior people to guide us and give us a high level overview of the business at Citi). The internship begun with a training week with modules on derivatives, compliance. This was very helpful in terms of bringing us all to the same level.
As I mentioned, the internship begun with a training week, which wasn't standard at all. They taught us how to build a personal brand, how to network and technical knowledge. My team gave me weekly feedback on my work. Also, we got weekly feedback on our presentations for the trrading game.

A lot of people convert this summer internship to a graduate offer. I don't know yet whether I got it or not. But even if you don't, they might give you another summer offer so you can improve over the next summer and try again to get a grad offer.
The Culture
Very nice people. They make sure of that by having a good recruitment process.
It's Canary Wharf after all.
Okay.
A lot of Opportunities. You just need to organize your time accordingly. We had a community day. We went to Victoris Park and helped them clean and paint fences. That was fun. Also, you can get engaged in projects outside of the team/firm. I highly encourage you to do so, lots to learn.
