The Role
I enjoyed my placement as i was able to experience project management and consultancy this year. This has given me the opportunity to work with different teams and know how the company works as a whole. It has also helped me think of my future career goals for when i graduate.
I felt very valued by my colleagues as I was able to support them in important projects and make good contributions to it. The work I was given was relevant work they affects the company and the customer. The team i was in welcomed me and made me feel part of the team.
I was given guidance by the Senior project manager and programme manager in meetings where I was able to express if I faced any issues and was given advise where I could improve. This was helpful as due to these I have excel in my role independently as I am confident in the process and procedures I need to take.
I was fairly busy depending on how much projects you are contributing to. I was able to manage my time effectively and was able to switch between tasks depending on it's priority. I am also able to do my own learning depending if I have some time to spend preparing for my next year.
I was part of 4 projects where one of my projects too a lot of commitment and responsibility as I was one of a few people who knew the system and how it works. This was good as it took a lot of research but I managed to solve these issues. The work i did I had full responsibility for and was expected to finish it
I have learned a lot of project management skills that I can implement in my final year project and I was supported with a Prince2 course that helped me learn the principles of project management. This helped me excel in the role I was in. I also have an increased commercial awareness so i know how a business operates in the IT industry.
