The Role
I really enjoyed my placement here, i had the chance to travel to Madrid, Paris and Las Vegas over the 14 months. I also explored a project management role in addition to the sales support analyst role that i am assigned to. The placement exceeded any expectations i had and more.
My team made me feel very welcomed and offered me any help and support that i needed and were a great team to work with. My colleagues on placement made up a total of 50, which allowed me to speak to many different working groups and network across the company.
My manager always supported my decisions and encouraged me to take risks when working with worldwide members. The rest of my team also encouraged me to learn outside my role and take on different learning courses to explore technical parts of the company which was expand my knowledge within my role.
I always had tasks to complete and they varied on a daily basis. Some days i would have a project to manage, and to prepare for an event. Others i would be managing the teams spending budget and ordering different merchandise options for events, and some days i would have to manage deals coming in, activities and plenty more.
As part of my particular role, i had the same responsibility as my other team members as my role was meant to fill the space of a full timer. However i did not own an account for different geos, however i was able to manage and ensure things were running smoothly
I can see that the skills i have learnt this year will help me in the future as i have learnt to take risks, be confident with my decisions and work within a mulit cultural team. As well as exploring an events role, it has helped me understand where my strengths lie.
The Company
It was always busy in the office and everyone you passed was friendly and welcoming. The canteen was full of energy and made lunchtimes more enjoyable. There was always people to talk to if you needed support or any help, and there was never a dull day in the office.
The placement was well organised, with plenty of training sessions at the beginning of the year. The HR team always were on hand for any help and support. The placement was well set out with tasks to do and i was always involved with team activities which made me feel part of the team
They trained us very well at the start with excel training, out of the job training and product training. They invested in me to travel all over the world for different events i helped to run. I felt very much part of the company and was reassured throughout the year that my efforts were not unnoticed

The company allow interns to come back for a grad scheme, entering another segment of the business, which allows you to explore more than what you learnt on placement and discover where your strengths lie. This really is encouraging as you can work your way up the business within different working groups
The Culture
With 50 placement interns there was never a dull day. We always went out as a group and there was different social events organised as part of the SAS committee, which involved bowling, a weekend trip away, nights out, bingo, pub quizzes. This meant going home was never lonely after work
I lived in a shared house with other people in the area. My room cost £430 a month with bills included and was very clean, it had an ensuite and the other people were always friendly. Other interns lived with each other / alone, and there was always someone around to go hang out with. Nights out were very cheap in the area
Nightlife was good with the right people, the other interns always made it enjoyable and never a dull night. We usually went out every Thursday, which made a break in the week and took time away from work which helped strengthen relationships within the intern community. I will definitely miss the nights out!
There was plenty of volunteering activities which you could get involved with at work such as Inspire which welcomed different school groups in to learn about the company and get involved with tasks, as well as guide dogs coming in for charity and different volunteering groups around the Swindon area to join together at the office
