  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my internship at Centrica. I have been welcomed into the company by absolutely everybody I have met and everyone has been extremely positive about the business and their positions. I have been given the opportunities to get involved with many projects and also been able to use my initiative to take make my own opportunities.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt very valued by my colleagues throughout my placement. I felt that I could approach anyone about anything and that I have been supported throughout my entire time at Centrica. I believe that I have added value to my team through my work in Resourcing and I have also been given the opportunity by my colleagues to get involved in other projects that I am interested in.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have been given regular support by my manager and my team throughout my placement. I had a regular meeting once a week with my manager, along with a regular meeting once a week with my buddy. This enabled me to build up a relationship with them where I felt comfortable telling them about my concerns as well as my achievements.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis I have been extremely busy. I have filled each day with catch ups as well as project work which has enabled me to get the best out of my time at Centrica. I have never had a free afternoon which has made my time at Centrica go extremely quickly!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have been given a lot of responsibility during my placement at Centrica. I was responsible for creating an entire intranet page, which meant that I had access to editing the entire intranet if I had wanted to. This was very positive to me that Centrica trusted me enough to be given this access to use wisely.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed during my internship at Centrica will be valuable for the rest of my life. I have learnt so many transferrable skills that I did not have before that will aid me throughout my career and life. I have learnt how to manage my time, as well as networking skills and how to use Microsoft teams.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I thought the general atmosphere in the office was very friendly and positive. Considering that there are changes going on throughout the business, I thought everyone had a positive attitude and the mood was rarely low. People warned me in my first few days that the mood was more low than usual because of the current changes, but because I had not known it to be any different, I still thought it was a positive environment to be around and work in.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that my internship was organised and set up very well. There was a clear structure of what I would be doing and achieving throughout my time at Centrica which was already in place when I arrived. This is largely down to my manager making the most of my time here and giving me the opportunities that would benefit me throughout my placement.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company definitely invested in my personal training and development. I was given the opportunity to learn how to build a Microsoft teams site and an intranet site, as well as taking part in many placement days which involved presentation skills and development days. Having these opportunities enabled me to build strong friendship bonds with the other interns and also prepared me for my end of placement presentation.

  • I would really love to be offered the opportunity of a permanent place on the graduate scheme within Centrica. My placement has shown me how much the company cares about its employees and what a career at Centrica could involve. The organisation is very appealing and would be a great place for me to begin my future career!
