The Role
It was probably one of the best work placements ever. There were very small stints where I did not enjoy it, but the majority of the time I enjoyed the placement. The company is a multinational company and they are always involved with everything. The company tend to hold loads of events to participate with, which makes the entire year enjoyable.
The Work Placement Community is different to any other placement. At Intel (UK) the company hires roughly 45-50 Interns every year to replace the previous lot of interns. Over the summer, "Handover Period", the company has 80/90 Interns on their main UK site. Compared to other placements there are more "younger people" on site which makes the transition from Uni Life to Working Life easier. The community in that way feels very close. Over the year, you will work with your team on different projects and you are not seen as a placement student. The individual is seen as a working full timer at the company. In that way you feel valued by your colleagues, something which I found very nice.
Especially my team, myself and my manger were working very closely. We had regular 1:1 meeting every week, to discuss about work but also my development as an individual. At Intel, you will also receive support from your Boss which is also amazing, they will support you and give a lot of guidance to excel your career. Not only have I worked for my team, but with management/supervisors permissions I was allowed to work with other teams on other project and shadow other parts of the business. The company gave me full support so I could have look into other fields of the industry.
As I work in a role which is more Project based. It meant that I would either be busy or would be bored occasionally. Depending on your role, you could either be very busy or have nothing at all. The way you can counter act this, is by using your time wisely and work on other areas or develop skills which you previously didn't have.
I believe at Intel you are given a lot of responsibility. You are seen as a "Blue Badge Employee", basically a full timer. The size of the company is huge, so there are many rules and regulations which can affect how much responsibility an individual has. It all depends on what role and what team you work within.
I have definitely improved on my soft skills as I you learn to adapt those skills to suit the work environment. You also receive a lot of training at the start of your placement, this is "handover". But there are also times when they need the team to learn a skill, e.g Agile Training. They will have a professional come in and teach you the skill, all paid by the company. There is also learning material and tools to develop your skills.
The Company
It was generally a really nice atmosphere. The company have an open door policy which means you are able to speak to anyone in the office. People have been at the company for many years, you can tell that they enjoy working at Intel due to the amazing enviroment - a great place to work.
It was set up really well. This is due to the company doing this for many years now. They know how to enroll the placement students seamlessly, they have a good supporting network and always have projects and work that needs to be done. So all in all, it is organised really well.
I think the company invested a lot of money and time into me this year. They have given me a lot in the forms of training, work perks and etc. I believe the company invests a lot into you, as they would like to see you develop and work for their company.

Depends what jobs are available at the time, but the company does hire back from their Pool of interns. They do not usually hire graduates straight out from uni, due to not knowing the individual. This what is good about doing a placement at Intel, the company could hire you back.
The Culture
Very good social scene at Intel, Swindon Site. This is because we elect Sports and Social heads who plan events and night outs. As an intern community, we tend to go out every other week on a thursday. Swindon isnt the best of places but with a big community it is really enjoyable.
Its average. Regular prices, but if you are from the North, it will be seen as a lot more.
It is average, Swindon is a big town. There are many bars and an old part of Swindon which is really nice. There is always things to do.
There are clubs and society's outside work, but this will all have to be organised by the individual. Swindon Hockey club etc.
