    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • To a large extent, I enjoyed the Jeffries insight day as I was fortunate to be able to see the daily operations, team members and to have as much exposure to the business. This is vital as being interested in the finance sector I could see what I would be dealing with on a daily basis or the working enviroment I would have to adapt to.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • To a large extent, I felt valued during my time at the company. This is because, Diversity was a important part of the business ethos and seeing their approach upon that mission statement was valueable. Therefore, relating to ethnic miniorities of not being as successful as other ethnic origins it was reassuring to see that a diverse community was much more challenging, safer and fun to work within the business.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I recieved a lot of guidance towards the end of the day. For example, the JEMS and the interns gave a lot of support from dealing with the pressure of A-levels to finding your passion. I found this guidance very useful as specific degrees do not usually lead to specific jobs as some degrees are more flexible and if they have transferrable skills, then it would be easier to adapt.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • To large extent, the skills i developed was important as I learnt about how to develop your personal brand, which helped me as the information I received on that enabled me to become more dilligent and more comfortable when apporaching situations. This helped me become more confident as I needed to focus on my strengths and weaknesses which was part of the information that I received.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very structured as I was given a timetable of the day which told me the events that were going to happen and the timings of the events. The insight day was on time and every part of it was effeciently used to make sure that no time was wasted.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere during the insight day was calm and professional. The atmosphere was of a natural working enviroment of daily business operations which consisted of team working and working hard to make sure that Jeffries was reaching its targets and objectives for the day and week. All in all, this created an atmosphere of calmness, fun and hardwork whilst being very interested in the way that jeffries conducted their operations.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • To a partial extent, as this was only an insight day. Though tips and experiences were passed on to make sure that to learn from mistakes that were created in others. Personal training was key as skills and advice was given but it rather seemed vague. The development was mainly concentrated on their ethos and workers which was good but I felt that i was not invested enough in order to feel that I could change.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To a large extent, the insight helped me to understand that what it would be like to have a full time job at Jeffries. This is because, I learnt this from a worker which told us the various stages of being recruited from being an intern for 10 weeks to being an full time junior analyst for Jeffries and then eventually being promoted to work within an division of IB.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot, as their ethos was about diversity and how that affects the workplace. Their company culure was consistent of fun, diverse and being apart of a small team. The company is unique as it is small but wants to be on the level of high banks such as HSBC which is global and has a lot of workers. So their culture is rather unique and inspiring.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was n valuable as it helped me create a plan which either stated that I would work within that sector or not, or maybe in a different nature of business. This is because Jeffries is small and not MNC so if I like being a part of a flat structure businesss with less people then it could be an option.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, because the employees at Jeffries sent their contact details to the programme which it was hosted by which then let us to find their linkedin and emails to contact workers about future prospects.

    3/5

  • It was good as we discussed future propects with employees whilst being at a social event.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
