About You
The insight day was very enjoyable, the sessions were a suitable length and were clear in explaining more about the finance industry and Jefferies in particular.
It was emphasised the impact that an individual makes at a small firm in comparison to a larger one and I was encouraged to network and ask the questions I had.
I was allowed to ask all of the questions I had and the employees were very happy to answer them. The industry was explained clearly for those who had limited knowledge and I learnt a lot about Jefferies in particular.
I was unsure about whether I wanted to pursue finance or law and this insight day has reaffirmed that I want to pursue finance (first) and do a degree in Economics and Politics.
The Company
The length of the sessions were suitable except we started lunch late so the networking time was limited.
Everyone was super welcoming and happy to listen and answer questions. It was very informative.
They answered all of the questions I had and gave tips for interviews.
We had a tour of the different floors and heard talks from people from different departments who went into depth on their everyday lives at work.
Each speaker spoke about the difference in individual impact at a small firm in contrast to a bigger one and the importance of diversity at Jefferies.
The insight day reaffirmed to me that I want to go into finance and that my background won’t halter me from getting there.
Everything Else
It was only one day.
During lunch we were encouraged to network with the current interns at Jefferies so we could ask any further questions we had about university or Jefferies.
The networking was very useful and effective as I got to meet people who do the degree I’m aspiring to do and at the university I want to go to.
We learnt about JEMS and heard a talk from the diversity panel. We heard about the social events that happen on the balcony and the gym available.
It was informative, engaging and enjoyable. It cast away any misconceptions I had about the finance industry and motivated me to work towards working at a place like Jefferies in the future.
