About You
Gained insightful information about the JEM scheme and how Jefferies are working towards greater ethnic diversity to not only improve the company but also give those who are less privileged and underrepresented a better opportunity to join an elite investment bank. The presentation answered all my questions about joining the world of work and clearly explained the different areas and roles to do with investment banking.
Great hospitality from the beginning with all volunteers showing enthusiasm. The members of JEMS and the European Director- Rapahel Bejarano were evidently pleased to have us and genuinely wanted to help us with our desire to go into a field similar to employees at Jefferies.
All volunteers during the day- whether it was university interns or important member of Jefferies- actively wanted to help us by engaging in conversation and offered extra help even after the insight day had ended.
I now have a clearer idea of the type of degree I want to study at university. Even though I am still undecided on the career path I want- Jefferies clearly explained the different roles in investment banking and their spring week programme looks to be useful.
The Company
The timetable was pretty well stuck to and covered every aspect of working- from tours of the building to internship programmes.
Everyone was very lively and the fellow students were all talkative and friendly.
It was only a half day event so it wouldn't be possible.
They explained what junior employees are expected to do and their working hours.
They explained all the programmes and benefits for all employees and the accepting culture that is present at Jefferies.
I am now more sure that the Financial Services industry is where I would like to work and especially Investment Banking.
Everything Else
It was an insight day- I was not expected to be paid.
We met a range of employees from all departments and also university interns that were more able to answer questions I had relevant to university courses and life.
All members were friendly and welcomed further contacts. The networking lunch was a perfect opportunity to talk to employees.
We were informed of the gym and leisure activities in the building that employees could partake in during work.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day and wish to come back to Jefferies for either work experience or an internship.
