The Role
This internship was a great experience with M&G Prudential! I have learnt so much in a 8-week period! I enjoyed working with them! And I am looking forward to continue my career there as a graduate :)
All my colleagues have been supportive and open towards me. I could learn as much as I finally did because I had intelligent and friendly people around me. I appreciated the fact that M&G Prudential allocated to me some buddies from graduate schemes :) It was an extremely interesting experience of exchanging experiences with graduates.
All my managers have been encouraging and supporting me during this internship. I had regular one-to-one catch-ups with my managers during which I could discuss with them my project work, share my feelings and ask for their feedback.
Work-life balance is encouraged at M&G Prudential. I had good working hours. And I have been pretty busy everyday of my internship (in a good sense). Everyday I was involved in project activities, group tasks etc... I like being busy and always having something to do! That motivates me :)
I have been a member of a multi-disciplinary team focused on a Data science/Business Analytics project. Our team was composed of 3 interns. We have been given real responsibilities and goals to achieve. We really liked being trusted like that. We could be autonomous and responsible for our own project and at the same time be greatly supervised by our mentors and managers.
During my internship with M&G Prudential I developed a lot of technical skills (Python, VBA, Excel, processing of open-source data sets) but most importantly I gain a lot of human experience! I learnt how to be working in a team, how to trust my colleagues, how to find a compromise etc.. Moreover, I made a lot of presentations and speeches in front of my colleagues from office. All of this will be extremely useful not only for my studies but also for my personal development.
The Company
It was in a nice modern office in Edinburgh. General atmosphere in the office was really friendly. We had a nice cafeteria and billiard tables :)
It was well organized. We got regular planning sessions and presentations to make sure that we (interns) make a good work. I liked the agile working environment implemented in the office (we have been working in Sprints).
We got regular learning sessions and skype trainings. I really felt that the company invested in me. I could improve my knowledge about FinTech and Asset Management (Fixed income, Specialty Finance, alternative Credit). Thanks to company's learning trainings I discovered new areas of interests :)
This internship was a great experience with M&G Prudential! I hope that I will be able to continue my career there as a graduate :) There are opportunities of graduates schemes, I hope being chosen for them :)
The Culture
The atmosphere was extremely friendly and I met a lot of nice students and professionals at M&G Prudential with whom I hope being able to keep contact.
I was new in Edinburgh. So, in the beginning it was a little bit challenging for me to socialize with local residents. But the cost of living was affordable. And Edinburgh is an amazing city to live and work in!!!
There was no particular Nightlife. But it was pretty dynamic and interesting during the day :) Daylife was cool
Yes, we had a CSR day on the farm. We volunteered all the day :) helping locals on the farm
