About You
I really enjoyed the scheme, as there was a good mix of work from various departments, social opportunities, and sessions to learn about various areas of the firm.
I felt like I was really contributing to the departments I sat in, as they gave me work which had real consequences.
The graduate recruitment team were always on hand if we ever had any issues, and the trainees and supervisors were all very approachable.
The skills I developed will certainly assist me in a future legal career, as well as the knowledge I gained about how various deals work.
The Company
It was very well structured - we had a week and a half in each department which allowed us to get a sense of different types of work, and the sessions on D&I, pro bono etc were interspersed throughout the scheme.
The culture of the firm was really supportive and fun, and people were always ready to talk things through with us.
We learnt how to do the tasks on the job, which was really helpful as you could see the context of each of them.
Being surrounded by lawyers from the firm really allowed me to understand what their work was like and the various things that take up their day.
The scheme was very helpful for this, as I got to attend department summer parties which allowed me to see the culture of the firm away from the office as well.
I am more sure of my decision to pursue commercial law after this scheme.
Everything Else
There were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees.
I really got to know others on the scheme well through the group project and the vacation scheme socials.
Yes, we found out a lot about the pro bono the firm does.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend, as it was a fantastic way to learn more about the firm and about commercial law.
