The Role
Made me feel like I was part of the team
Always invited to team meetings and always made it a point to make me feel included from day 1
My official line manager was never really in, so relied on his colleague to facilitate my placement
Fairly busy day to day, some days were busier than others, but I guess that's just working life
Pretty good amount of responsibility
Definitely learnt to think more commercially and critically
The Company
My team in Contract Services was AMAZING - constantly joking around and really made my experience SO MUCH better
Pretty organised - they organised commercial and marketing days out for us and it all ran smoothly
Quite a lot of investment - felt like I was valued by the company despite all the uncertainty surrounding Centrica at the moment
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Working from home
Given the uncertainty of Centrica, I don't know whether they'd be a company I'd be comfortable working for, but the vibe in the office is great and they do seem to care a lot about their employees
The Culture
YES - because we all stay at RHUL together, felt less like colleagues and more like friends. We would often visit various water parks and go get drinks every week.
We're in Staines, and considering I'm from London, prices here are dirt cheap.
Haven't actually been to Atik in Windsor, but haven't heard the best things about it. A couple of my friends tried going to Ministry of Sound in London and it took them around 3 hours to get back to halls, so I'd say we're fairly isolated. Don't know how RHUL students survive!
