The Role
I have really enjoyed my 13 months placement job at Intel and I was given a lot more responsibilities than I would thought. I'm working for two teams across three continents and both teammates are very supportive and kind.
As I'm working for two teams throughout my placement, I have received a lot of support from the team and also helped many of my colleagues. I feel very valued when receiving thanks message/letter after a project completed or helped my colleague out and being recognized on Intel recognition system.
I'm working quite closely with my supervisor and she is also sitting in the same office as me. Whenever I have questions, I can very easily reach out from her. We also have weekly one-on-one meetings so she can distribute tasks to me based on my priorities.
I have a relatively busy daily basis. When having project to work on, most of time I'm very concentrating and I can finish the work efficiently so I can have more time on developing other skills.
As I mentioned before I have been given a lot more responsibilities than I expected, I'm using Python to develop Analysis tools to identify and plot satellite receiver data trends and I have also assisted AWS Cloud Based activities. Wrote program to safeguard local database architecture.
Enhanced programming, logical thinking, attention to detail, client facing, communication & teamwork capabilities.
The Company
People are working really hard in my office.
We have 3 - 4 weeks "handover" at the beginning of our placement and this time is enough for us to understand our job and who we are gonna be working with.
We have quite a few internal training tools and occasionally have very experience people to hold online teaching webinar.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
I believe bigger site at Intel are very appealing to future employment.
The Culture
People tend to work really hard in my site, we have occasionally social events.
I'm living in a very affordable area and people are nice and friendly.
Not many pubs/restaurants but we have what we need.
Yes, we have a lot of volunteer activities outside of work. I went to QEOP Biodiversity Volunteering and Swindon Night Shelter Volunteering.
