    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I really enjoyed the internship and the work was very interesting. Having come from a non-cognate background, the knowldge and skills I have developed has been invaluable. Furthermore, the beauty of working in property is that the work is highly varied every day. Site visits and roatating around teams makes the internship particulary fascinating!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • Everyone I have met at Cushman and Wakefield has been so lovely, kind and welcoming. I feel extremely valued by my colleagues and they are very supportive. They are all extremely inspring, pasionate and great at what they do. The people at Cushman and Wakefield has made my time here amazing.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • My supervisor was extremely supportive and a great mentor. He was very helpful, providing me with lots of knowldge and had lots of time for me- which I was very greatful for as he was very busy. I was also supported lots by the rest of the team and IT.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • The start of the internship primarily consisted of shadowing the team. This provided a great insight into the sector and what individuals do but I wasn't particulary busy. After this period however, I was gradually given more and more tasks as the level of resposibility increased and my skills developed. As a result I was very busy for the remainder of internhip - but a good level of busy where I felt valued. I never felt too stressed which is good for the work/life balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • The start of the internship primarily consisted of shadowing the team. This provided a great insight into the sector and what individuals do but I wasn't particulary busy. After this period however, the level of resposibility I was given gradually increased as my skills developed and I was given more and more tasks, At the end of the internship I felt very responsible and valued by the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I really enjoyed the internship and the work was very interesting. Having studied a non-cognate degree, the knowldge and skills I have developed has been invaluable. I now have a greater insight into property and what different teams do. The experience has been invaluable and will definitely prove beneficial, assisting my career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The atmosphere in the office has been great. A nice balance- working hard but not too stressful. Furthermore, everyone is very helpful and highly supportive. This has made my overall experience at Cushman and Wakefield great. It might be nice to have a bit more of a social scene in the office but I guess I'm only an intern.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The internship was well organised and set up. For example, on the day I arrived, there was a laptop waiting for me. However, being in a regional office, my line manager and I sometimes felt a bit 'out of the loop' from the London office and HR team. For example, sometimes an email would be sent to the london office but not me- so I'd have to chase it up. Overall though I thought the internship was very well organised!

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • There was weekly intern training which was very benfical. Topics included Presentation & Pitching, Client Relations, Personal Branding and Life as a Grad. It was presented in the London office and broadcasted to the regional offices. The in-house trainer was exceptionally good! Furthermore, my colleagues invested a lot of time in me and were very helpful and supportive.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • Cushman & Wakefield have been a great company to work for and it would be privilege to work for them full time. Prospects are very good for employees. They have a great grad programme with the opportunity to complete a part time masters. This is highly attractve to me as I have a non-cognate degree.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Perhaps the only part of the internhip that could be improved. The office was lovely and lots of fun but all of the organised intern activites were for the London interns- so I felt that I missed out on this. Perhaps in the future C&W can provide an opportunity for regional interns to attend a social event down in London so that all the interns can attend and network. Depsite this I still had a great time! We also had a great summer party.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Good cost of living. Worked in a regional office and lived at home so it wasn't too bad. Transport to work was quite expensive though but national rail are to blame for that.

    • Good!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Not particularly. As previosuly mentioned, most of the organised intern activites were in London so was unable to attend.
