The Role
Really enjoyed my work placement at Pendragon. My contract was originally until June however I extended until August as I felt I really benefited from being with the company and I felt part of the team.
Throughout my time here there were a lot of personel changes in our team, however I enjoyed working with every team member and felt respected by my leaders. We also did activites outside of work time which helped our team bond.
When I first started the finance hub was in its early days, so the support was limited. However as the hub grew, I received a lot more support from my collegues and superiors. They have also brought into place an 'On track' review process where our performance is monitored monthly and feedback is received.
My job roles changed throughout my time at Pendragon which allowed me to experience the different positions of an assistant accountant. Each role varied in workload, but overall I had things to do through out the day. Month end was the busiest period at the hub due to the time pressure of getting the overall accounts submitted.
Even though I was on the undergraduate scheme, I was given the same responsibilities as the other accounts assistants who were on permanant contracts.
This being my first full time job, my skills developed no end. The company organised monthly training sessions at their dedicated training academy, which helped developed both my work and personal skills. My communication and organisational skills have improved which will assist with my university degree, as well as my confidence.
The Company
Really enjoyed working in the hub, the atmosphere was chatty and friendly. They also orgnised many charity days, which involed dressing up and other fun activites.
The placement was well organised, with regular contact with HR and the training days allowed us to build relationships with the other undergraduates.
Company Parties/Events
I would really like to come back to Pendragon and build further on the skills and relationships I have established. I'd like the oportunity of a post graduate scheme and explore different areas of the business.
The Culture
I lived just 15 miles from the head office so the cost of living and socialising was small as I stayed at home.
We often did charity activities, such as sponsored walks (Ben Nevis) and football matches
