The Role
Very good, varied, interesting.
Everyone was helpful, and friendly, the culture was excellent, even the partners/directors spoke to you, and were interested. I was involved in the team meetings, was never afraid to ask questions because colleages were so welcoming and friendly. I wasn't sent to make tea, and was treated like one of the team and given real responsibility.
Managers were very helpful and friendly.
Just right, always had enough work to do, but wasn't stressed from having too much work. The work was varied and interesting.
Given real work not just making tea/photocopying. Was involved with work a recent graduate would be expecting to do. Was very pleased that I was invited to client meetings and team meetings and given work that would be useful to the company and the team and would make a difference.
We were even sent on an excellent 2 day training course at Bradenham Manor on how to give presentations effectively. The skills learnt will certainly be of use in my degree and future career.
The Company
Atmosphere was friendly
This is the first year of real internships at Grant Thornton, but it was very well thought out. The set up was excellent, brilliant support from human resources and managers/colleages. Had introductions days, lunch and learns to learn about the different departments, socials to get to know managers/colleagues
I feel the company invested heavily, we went to a national conference on the second day to help our understanding, and an excellent 2 day training course on how to give presentations with food and accomodation provided.
Company Parties/Events
Most of the interns (including myself) were offered jobs at the end
The Culture
Very good, the organised socials on the placement were very good fun, great to meet people, went to the London Eye, and bowling.
I found accomodation in north London (was living in UCL halls) very expensive
Very varied, and exciting
