The Role
I really really enjoyed the summer internship and was able to contribute to the project team not just as an intern but as a full time member of the team. I found the work challenging and interesting and was able to use different softwares and processes I have never used before.
I felt extremely valued by my team as they saw me as a full time member of the team, not just a summer intern. I was able to contribute to all of the project work and work on material that was provided directly to the client - this was interesting and challenging
At the beginning I found myself left to my own devices which I found challenging at first. After this I got to know my team better and felt fully supported in all the work I was doing. I was able to ask questions freely which was encouraged and I found this really helpful
Some days I was really busy and some days I was limited in the amount of tasks I was allocated. This did allow me time to learn more about the company and meet different people in the office which helped me learn more about different service lines. I could have probably taken on a bit more but it was good for the 6 weeks
As an intern I feel you are not given too much responsibility. As the work is often given straight to the client, I was able to create and edit work but it was often then reviewed as a team. For the work that we were doing i think it was a good amount of responsibility.
This internship helped me a lot on skills I can use for the future and for future jobs, particularly talking to other people and finding out about people’s journeys to their current roles. Unfortunately as I study a science degree, most of the skills will not be that transferrable to use at uni
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was good especially on Fridays but it was often quiet. I like the hot desking as it means you talk to different people each day. I would say there could be more energy/ noise in the office as it was often too quiet for my preference
The internship was really well organised. I knew all the details of the placement before I started and this went well. I was also really lucky in terms of my project as it started on the first day of my internship and lasted for the duration of the summer meaning I was in the same team for the whole time
I think they are invested in you becoming a graduate and most of the training and development comes in getting experience from different projects. I think there could probably be more information about the different groups within EY like EY health, eco innovators etc to make them more popular amongst the interns
