    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very much so. It was brilliant to have an insight into an international organisation such as EY and connect with a large amount of people from different backgrounds.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The feedback I got was constant and gratifying. I was praised when I worked well and this was shown in a formal feedback scheme.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There is a fantastic buddy/counsellor system in place at EY to make sure you get exactly what you want during your time here. They’re great people to contact and will always take time for you.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Naturally the work took a couple of days to come in but once it did, I was included on a number of projects. My involvement increased as colleagues saw the quality of my work and by the end I was fully integrated in projects.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Although I needed guidance, the team allowed me to get fully involved and manage my workload. I was responsible for the quality of the work I produced and it felt as if I was a full-time employee.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely. I learned so much during my time at the firm and am going to take a lot away. I’ve learnt to really take pride in the presentation and detail of my work, plus so many more things.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As EY takes on a large number of grads/school leavers, there was a vast number of people my age as well as other interns. This contributed to a relaxed and fun atmosphere and I’ve made some great friends during my time here.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • EY are experienced in looking after students and this showed. Although you are left with personal responsibility for the content of your internship, the structure is superb and runs perfectly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is a large online training programme that you can take part in if you have the time. I was invited to team trainings and learnt from this.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I’m hoping to have an offer in the near future. It was a great place to work and to have a firm like EY on your CV plus the skills you gain is priceless.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was always people to go for lunch and drinks with. The team had a few drinks events which I went to and if you wanted to, there was always people to do things with after work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It wasn’t cheap but it was worth it. You expect to pay higher prices working in London but the social scene warrants it. No complaints.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I loved Canary Wharf. I’ve done a few internships in the City but Canary Wharf is the nicest for me. Nice open parks and surrounded by eateries and bars with like minded people around you!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • My one complaint is we didn’t have a formal team social with all the team. But there was plenty going on despite that so I can’t complain.
