The Role
The group of people working at the office were a really welcoming group of people who made all of the summer internship programme attendees feel incredibly welcome from the outset. The socials provided by the social team allowed me to get to know the other members of the office very quickly.
All the work asked for was done so following in-depth and clear coaching from the seniors on the job. This allowed for a clear me to gain a understanding of the task to be completed hence allowing me to finish it more efficiently and to a higher standard of work.
Some of the jobs that I was on had a lot of work for the people working there however they didn’t have much that was of acceptable difficulty for an intern to do. This occasionally left me with some periods of time where I didn’t have any work to complete.
I was given reasonable responsibility given that I was an intern. All of the work I did was thoroughly reviewed and checked as would be expected and I was never put in a situation where the work I completed was final. I don’t think much responsibility can be expected from an internship.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great, everyone who worked there was very friendly and welcoming. They were always open to answering questions about the work I was doing, but were also interested in getting to know you and forming friendships which made the overall experience of the internship much more enjoyable.
Once I got to the internship it was very well organised and set out. However when it comes to the application process this was not true. The messages sent out were unclear and sometimes provided contradictory information. The information provided about booking travel and the way this is handled within the company could also have been set out much clearer
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
There are many benefits to future employment with EY. Their flexible view of working that allows you to work flexibly around any other life activities that you have going on that collide with work. This becomes particularly more useful as you get older and start to have a family so this is a big plus.
The Culture
The social scene among the other interns, grads and even seniors at EY is very good. As soon as you arrive you are welcomed in to it and they always make sure to invite the interns to leaving nights and other such events that are being planned by the social team.
Very reasonably priced. Reasonably cheap food and drinks if you go to the right places. There’s also plenty of slightly more expensive places however for what you are getting the price you are paying there is reasonable too. Travel would be the only thing that is quite over priced I would say.
Very hit and miss, some places are dead and others can get quite lively if you bring enough people yourself. £1.50 VKs on a Friday is a a major plus with most other drinks being quite cheap dependant on where you go. The people who work in the office were very good and helping with going to the right places.
