The Role
Really enjoyed the internship, got to work on different clients and with different people in my team. Everyone was very supportive and helpful, it was very easy to ask questions. People in general were amazing, everyone was making sure I was having a great time, checking on me every week.
My team gave me quite a lot responsibility for being an intern. They trusted me doing the work even without any previous practical experience. I went to a couple of client meetings as well, which made me feel helpful. Got invited to socials and lunches with the team, bonded a lot!
Had a meeting with my counsellor at least every week, was working closely with her so it was extremely easy to meet up and chat. Felt I could raise any issue or ask whatever question to her. Same for my buddy, it was a very relaxed environment but felt extremely supported.
I was the only intern in my team so I was given quite a lot of work. The first weeks were silent but then my colleagues started to ask for my help for a lot of tasks. By week three I was as busy as my colleagues, which is exactly what I wanted to achieve in my internship!
A lot actually! Had work for managers, senior managers and even partners. People were counting on me to deliver the best results. Got included in email chains and conference calls so that I would be up to date with all the developments of the project I was working on. Felt valued!
I learnt so much in these six weeks. The practical knowledge I gained was completely different from anything I had studied at university. I was exposed to a lot of different concepts and financial instruments, lots of techinical knowledge. Of course I developed my professional skills, which I believe are extremely important for the near future
