The Role
Overall, I really enjoyed my internship and am leaving with a positive perception of EY. I met lots of interesting people and took part in a range of activities that were valuable to my personal development. I found work very interesting and was able to get a real insight into what it's like to work here.
I was able to integrate very quickly with my team due to their social nature and desire to get know me. That made my experience a lot better and I felt I could speak to anyone normally no matter their seniority. The EY recruitment team also held socials which were a lot of fun.
My counselor was fantastic and always keen to help, checking in every week with us. He clearly had our best interests in mind and was always wanting to make sure we were okay. Other staff also very able to help me with work when needed which made the learning process even better.
At the start I did not have much to do as my project was initially quite slow. However, resourcing were keen to get us involved as much as possible and I was able to find work quite quickly. Generally, I felt after this the right balance was found in this regard.
I felt the work I had to do was impactful on the client deliverable. It was reviewed by managers but it was satisfying to see my output in a client report. I was able to ask for help when necessary but also given autonomy over my time and how I should be working.
Most importantly, I have become more confident with how I interact with unfamiliar people. This is a useful skill that will help me in all walks of life and something that I hope to develop even more. I have also developed stronger technical skills with Microsoft office which will help me in workplace and studies alike.
The Company
One of best parts - the atmosphere was always very positive, especially on Fridays. People would socialise and speak to each other lots and often go for lunch together. Naturally, sometimes it was busy or lots of people were out on client site at times. For the most part, it was a very positive atmosphere.
The SIP team did a great job right from onboarding. We were given a comprehensive induction with social events and offer holder events. They regularly contacted us during the internship and even held a career counseling call with us which has useful. HR were easily available if needed and important contact.
The team spent some time giving an intro into the service line. I was also able to complete some web based learning during my time. I felt I learnt lots in 6 weeks and that I am now more knowledgeable about transactions due the on the job learning in particular.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, if I got an offer I would definitely take it. The qualification and interesting work makes for an attractive opportunity for a first job. Also, the progression seems fast and lots of learning opportunities. EY is a very strong brand and possesses a huge network to draw upon in the future.
The Culture
Yep, lots of socials and I felt that I made friends that I am certainly going to keep in touch with afterwards and into the future.
Given its central London, the expense is not surprising.
Diverse array in London, but again very expensive.
Lots including social drinks, tree socials,
