The Role
After seven weeks and some days, I think this environment is one that I would want to work in for a very long time. I am genuinely excited about what the bank does and most especially what the various desks do as well. Meeting a lot of different people with varying perspectives and experiences was equally exciting and eye-opening.
I was fortunate to be sending out trade opinions and ideas to an entire team across Paris, Hong Kong, New York and CEEMEA. I remember the positive feedback I had from various people who took time to read my opinions and that was truly one of the best feelings.
The support system here is super great and amazing. I always had help anytime I needed clarification on how put spreads work or why BTP spreads are widening. I also met people who were genuinely interested in my personal development career wise and provided insights on how best to go about the internship.
I remember at every point in time, I had an assignment or task to submit and work on so I had to be constantly reading and asking lots of questions. It felt equally rewarding to help someone on the team and contribute my effort to achieving a greater objective.
I had a fair and reasonable amount of responsibility during my internship in terms of networking, working on my project and shadowing other desks. Overall, all my tasks and projects were challenging enough and reasonable to complete and achieve in the stated time frame.
If there is one thing I have learnt during this internship, it will definitely be about options trading. Fortunately for me, all my three rotations dealt with an element of this derivative and I am glad I now have a fair understanding of its dynamics in providing hedging and speculation solutions.
The Company
Warm and friendly but fast paced. It gets intense sometimes and that is the exciting part in my opinion.
Everything was carefully taken care of right from the application process to interviews to securing visas to onboarding.
There were numerous learning sessions for all interns to enhance our knowledge of the bank's line of businesses and how financial markets work. A good number of networking events were also set up for us to interact with colleagues and senior executives to improve our communication and networking skills.

I think the bank invests heavily in trying to groom the best of talents and consequently convert them to full time employees. With the right attitude and mindset, I believe anyone is eligible to land a full time role with the bank. I think my chances of securing a full time role with the bank are higher because I have demonstrated personal development and genuine interest in my division
The Culture
Yes, there was. I have made new friends and acquaintances from various lines of businesses as well.
Fairly low. You can get some good food at minimal cost. Navigating around is also flexible and cheap with the convenience of the transport system (bus and train).
Nightlife in the area is calm but beautiful.
There are numerous opportunities to engage in other extra curricular activities of your interest. It is just a matter of finding time.
