The Role
I really enjoyed that there were so many people from so different countries. That was really something special that I have not experienced so far and it was great. Also, the networking events that took place in summer were great to both get to know other interns and get to know other areas of the bank and its professionals.
In general, I think most of my colleagues really tried to value the things I was doing for them. Of course, sometimes - especially in stressful situations - it was not possible to be valued in that way but that was completely fine with me. In total, it was good!
At my first day I was introduced to everybody in the department by my manager which was very nice to get an overview and get to know my colleagues. Probably because the managers are always very busy, I was not that much in contact with my manager, but if something special was necessary, however, my manager was super kind and helpful.
I think in comparison to all the internships I did before this I was definitely busy. Some situations were super busy whereas there were also days or parts of a day where I was bored. But if you are proactive and ask for more work, most of the times you were able to get some work. So it was definitely not too much work!
I felt like most of the things I was doing were checked multiple times afterwards, which is completely fine. In comparison with jobs I have done before, I felt that the responsibility give was not very high. Still it was fine to get to know the job and to see how it is like to work here. So still good.
The skills from university as well as the training (almost) did not help me at all. I think the things you are doing on intern level do not require that much knowledge because it is much more about executing certain easy tasks that help the professionals. More specific and tailored trainings in Bloomberg etc would have been super helpful
The Company
I felt were welcome in the office and it was a great team spirit. Probably because the average age in the office is very low, it was very nice to work with people at your age. Also, everybody was almost always very kind which I really appreciated.
The internship was very well organized. Everything worked out well, especially as I had some special circumstances with in the process. Also, all the events were organized very well, so that was indeed very very good.
In our department we had a special training or case study presentations on the products we are offering to clients which was extremely helpful to understand the day to day work and get an insight in the deal execution. Through this I definitely felt that the company wants me to understand the products so that I would be able to support if join.

I feel that BofAML really cares about the real interest of the interns an tries to find the job that really suits you the best. Hence, it was very nice to get to know many other parts of the bank within the training to figure out whether there might be another department or area that you might want to think to work in.
The Culture
To be real honest, I did not feel competition between me and the other interns at all. We all supported each other and that was definitely a great experience. Also, we spend some Friday evenings together in the pub after work which was a great team building experience.
London was extremely expensive. If you wanted to live nearby at least 50-60% of you salary was gone already. Also, foods and drinks are not very cheap so that the total cost of living were immense. Nevertheless, if believe that the salary BofAML was offering was high enough to cover the expenses on a low/mid standard for an intern.
The pubs in the city of London are great to meet up with friends and colleagues after work which was definitely great. About Nightlife like Clubs I cannot tell anything as I have not been to a club so far.
I think there were some opportunities but most of the times I was not able to attend. But this was still fine.
