The Role
Very enjoyable and learned a lot. Would happily recommend it to others.
Very friendly team. Great atmosphere. Everyone in the team was very intelligent and supportive.
Always given support when asked. I had a lot of independence, and it was largely up to me to ask for support when needed.
I was working on long research projects, so there were no immediate deadlines. I wanted to impress, so worked hard to get results, but never felt I was being overly pressured.
A lot of responsibility for an intern - my research is now being implemented into production.
I have learned a lot about programming and performing research in a commercial environment. I also have a much better understanding of the industry. These skills will be useful in any industry.
The Company
Generally very positive. Redundancies seem common for senior staff, but I think junior staff are better protected. There are quite a few networking and social events.
Generally well organised. However, I would have preferred more clarity around the job offer process, as I still don't know when/if an offer will be made, with only 3 weeks to go.
There weren't many 'formal' training sessions with other interns, but there was plenty of on-the-job training. I was given lots of time from my other team mates. They were always happy to share knowledge.

Company Parties/Events
In the short term (3-5 years) the prospects seem very appealing, but in the long term (5-10 years) I don't think there is much job security in this industry.
The Culture
Yes. The interns occasionally went for lunch/drinks together. We were all strongly encouraged to network with other teams, which usually meant going out for coffee.
Extremely high. Accommodation and food/drinks are very expensive. Sharing accommodation is necessary unless you are 45+ minutes out of town on the tube.
Very good. There are lots of bars and restaurants. Better than any other UK city.
Yes. I got involved in volleyball, go-karting, axe-throwing and rowing. The long commute sometimes made it hard to find time, but it's possible.
