The Role
I have enjoyed working as part of the onshore wind development team and being given a project with some real responsibility. It has been hard to enjoy however, given the little amount of guidance and it is not something that my degree has prepared me to do.
I have felt valued by my colleagues sometimes. It has taken a while to gain their trust and be able to feel like you can help them.
Due to holidays and other changes in the company I was not given much support on this end at all. I didn't mind too much as because I had worked at E.ON before I was able to get to grips with the systems much faster but if it had been my first time I probably would have been more lost.
I was quite busy on a daily basis as my project was a big one with all the responsibility on me to complete it. I also was asked for more smaller projects as time went on which was good to keep me occupied.
I was given much responsibility both for myself and for my project. This was pretty much handed to me on the first day.
The skills I developed were not really applicable to my degree as they were mostly excel and finance related. The skills however, would be useful for future business life.
The Company
The team mostly worked from home so it was very quiet. Especially as it was summer so people were on holiday for a lot of it as well. The atmosphere was mostly created by the undergrads in the office.
All the equipment and project was set up as well as a few initial contacts which was good. However, they were a bit at a loss for giving me help and other development opportunities such as exploring other aspects of the business.
They did not really do much to help me find training and development. However, once I had a few contacts I was able to network my way to get future development and training opportunities on my own and everyone I spoke to was happy to give me time.

Working from home
I am not sure due to many changes in the structure of the company but I am curious to find out more and keep in touch.
The Culture
Among fellow placement students we had a very good social scene with lunches in the canteen, site visit trips and drinks out. Among colleagues the social scene was non-existent.
Living in Coventry cost was fair but there was not much socializing apart from the gym which was cheap.
There was no nightlife at all.
Not really any opportunities as the whole team would only come down in the office once a month.
