The Role
Overall, I had some great experiences although the task and reports I had to do on a weekly basis eventually became very mundane and uninteresting.
I was fortunate enough to be within a great time who were all very supportive and encouraging. They always offered assistance when asked and I learned a lot from them all.
If I had any complaints I could go and see the Head Manager and talk to him about and on most occassions, the issues that I had would be resolved in no time.
Although there were some slow days as well as ridiculously busy days, overall I was kept busy without totally exhausting myself. Having colleagues who could help out with my work really made a difference as well so even if I had to leave work early for some reason, someone could always cover.
ALthough I wasn't personally given a massive amount of responsibility, the team I was working in was an integral part to the management of the Business Unit and therefore everything we did as a team was very important.
I learned a lot about Excel and computers in general. My organisational and communication skills also really improved and I definitely became a more confident and mature person by the time I left.
The Company
A serious working environment but very relaxed at the same time- everyone was very friendly, team workers and just a great group of people in general.
My manager was in charge of all the placement students and did a great job of settling us all in and reviewing our progress throughout the year.
I received a lot of Excel and other computer programming training but this was done by my manager and not IBM directly. It would have been nice to perhaps go on some training days or skills workshops over the course of the year as well.

Whilst I had a great time, I don't want to get into the computer software industry.
The Culture
Yes, had the best time with everyone as there was a group of about 25 of us based in my offices so it was always very social and fun.
Outside central London so a lot cheaper! ALthough there werent very many places to go out other than the local pub!
NONE!
Volunteering groups, sports groups etc- plenty to get on with so I was never bored!
