The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I felt hat the word I did was being valued and I was given a lot of independence to follow through with my project deliverables. I also enjoyed the extra-curriculars we got involved, particularly the charity event as well as the development day.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. The ideas I came up with were not only heard but also implemented.
I had weekly 1 to 1s with both my manager and my gradcoach where I updated them with the projects I had been working on. During these I discussed potential blockers but also talked about my development points.
I was very busy; apart from my project specific tasks, I had my group project to work on as well as optional deliverables.
I was given a lot of responsibility and entrusted with commercially sensitive work.
They will indeed. In particular, I have improved my leadership skills by organising a team wellness challenge - this skill will help me lead the society I am a President of at Uni.
The Company
Extremely friendly and open. Since we have an open office structure I sat next to a different person everyday which improved my network.
It was well organised. However, our holiday entitlements could've been made clear to us earlier on.
The company invested in me a lot through development days, mandatory trainings as well as team-specific training sessions.

Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. HSBC is a large corporation where there are few limits for progression. You can take your career as far as you want at HSBC.
The Culture
Yes, we had intern socials but also gathered together for drinks after work frequently.
Not costly as HSBC get a 25% discount at the Canal House, which is where HSBC employees socialise most frequently (Birmingham).
yes, these included charity events and development days.
