The Role
So many opportunities to learn and develop skills and you are seen as one of the team as opposed to just a work experience- type candidate
Helen was an amazing line manager and every one I have come across at HSBC has a welcoming and helpful approach to interns
Couldn’t have provided more support
Had capacity to take on a bit more work as our project took less time than expected but there was always things to get involved in and we were never overworked
Had opportunities to present to senior leaders, work independently and do work that actually holds value
I will definitely implement organisational and time management skills in my uni life and in the future. I hope I can implement my developed leadership and self-awareness strengths in all future aspirations
The Company
Comparing 1CS to some time at 8CS I can safely say there is more of a warm, friendly and welcoming environment at 1CS with 8CS feeling more impersonal and fast paced
No complaints
They invested a lot considering I’m an intern; insights, resilience and personal branding opportunities were all valuable opportunities to develop in a more personal than purposeful to HSBC sense
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Definitely hoping to return to HSBC
The Culture
Quite hard to always spend time given the commute situations of different people and their placements but opportunities were provided and encouraged
Quite high, I don’t live in Birmingham and from uni in Nottingham I had to drive 1 and a half hours everyday and pay for parking, socialising costs the same as Nottingham
Didn’t experience it really
It was a bit unclear what the role for interns was in the grad committees
